Act right now to protect people and wildlife on Wolfe Island WIRE is currently awaiting decisions from the Federal and Provincial Government with respect to approving an elevation request for a Provincial independent environmental assessment and a request for a Federal Panel review, on the released ERR by CHDI. WIRE continues to investigate and update Council on Noise studies and issues. Currently Council is not taking any lead action in supporting residents put in place a noise by-law to protect residents of the Island living under or near wind turbines. There are examples in Melancthon of Noise issues, and transformer noise issues in Amaranth Township that have not been resolved by CHDI. OMB has not supported this company to expand Phase II of Melancthon because of this issue adversely affected people. CHDI proposed using the same mitigating solutions for WI transformer that has not worked in Melancthon, Phase 1 Project. WIRE continues to correspond with STANTEC regarding ERR issues. WIRE is setting up a Community Liaison Committee, with OMB appellants and CHDI to deal with planning and operational issues regarding implementation of wind turbines on WI. There is a need to implement new emergency measures to handle ay major catastrophe that may occur on the Island. WIRE continues to meet with other coalition members of other projects, such as, Cape Vincent, Clayton New York, Picton Is., Amherst Island, Grey Highlands, and a new Chatham group. (1) JOIN US!
